While we recommend 7 searches of 7 words to be a great search formula, in truth it depends on what you are looking for. For lyrics, a larger number of searches on a small string can yield the best results, particularly if you are looking for lyrics, but are a little hazy on the words yourself! Searching for copies of articles works well with the 7:7 formula, although it obviously depends on how much text you input to start with. If you look for 2-3 phrases per paragraph, you are more likely to be successful in your results. If you are looking for a specific copy of a body of text, increase the numbers to 10:7 or even 10:10. Strangely, your original text might not appear at the top of the search results. This is a curious anomoly that occurs due to the time and date the page was last cached by Google. An article in Wikipedia for example may have b een changed several times in one morning, whereas the sites that used the text from a wiki page as their source is unlikely to have changed. If you find anything particularly unusual in your results, please let us know via the 'contact' page and we will see if you can justify/apologise for it!
